Frenchie Stud Service FAQ
Breeding Process & Timing
We rely heavily on progesterone testing. When doing in-house breedings or shipping semen, this increases the odds of pregnancy significantly. It is usually around day 13 from the first sign of heat/bleeding. Your French Bulldog will go into heat about every 8 -12 months, depending on her cycle. You can learn more about Artificial Insemination.
Progesterone testing will identify the correct day. It is usually around day 13 from the first sign of bleeding.
We heavily suggest it in order to establish the correct day for breeding. We have seen this date identified as early as day 7 and later than day 14. Every dog is different and progesterone testing is required in order for us to provide a litter guarantee.
The first test should begin around day 5-7 from the first sign of bleeding. Your vet will make additional recommendations from there, but approximately 2-3 days following until the LH Surge is identified. This will usually create 48 hour window to plan your insemination.
What if my female doesn’t take? Do you offer a repeat breeding?
Yes, if your female does not take for any reason when progesterone testing. We will offer a repeat breeding at the cost of shipping or insemination.
When the insemination occurs on the correct day identified by progesterone testing, we observe about an 85-90% success rate.
Can I book a last-minute breeding if she comes in early?
Yes, we can usually accommodate a last minute breeding and always do our best. It happens fairly often, which is why we recommend booking as far ahead as possible.
Shipping & Logistics
Our success rate in providing a viable collection has been perfect. Most vets rate the specimen quality extremely high upon receiving as a shipment. Our success rate when the female owner is progesterone testing is over 90%. The success rate drops when the female owner estimates the insemination date, but our Frenchie Stud’s specimen is always viable.
How is semen shipped and how long does it last?
It is processed by removing seminal fluid and replacing with semen extender. This preserves the sample for up to 10 days. The sample will slowly degrade over that period so we recommend using it as soon as possible. It is shipped in a chilled container.
Do you ship to the U.S. or only Canada?
We ship anywhere in North America. In remote areas, sometimes the shipment will be sent to a pickup location and you will be required to retrieve it. In most cases, it is shipped directly to your requested location overnight.
Can you ship directly to my home, or only to a vet?
We can ship to either location.
What happens if the shipment is delayed or damaged?
In the event the shipment does not arrive viable, in the agreed upon timeline, and fails to produce a pregnancy, we would offer a full refund.
How much notice do you need to ship semen?
We need to be able to ship by 5pm (est) to arrive the next day. We need to be informed a delivery may be required as soon as possible to coordinate this. We can usually ship the same day if we are informed by 10 am. This depends on our availability and more notice is preferred. The funds also need to be cleared before we can coordinate a shipment.

Are your studs DNA tested?
Yes, we DNA test all of our studs. We make them available on our detailed stud page. If you require any documentation you can’t find, please contact us and we’d be happy to provide it!
We always perform regular vet checkups and a full French Bulldog DNA panel test which is available on our studs page. We have done OFA testing on several of our studs.
We have studs that can produce Lilac, Chocolate, Cream, Blue, & Platinum. They can also produce pied, tan points, and long hair (fluffy Frenchies). Contact us for litter projections and assistance selecting the right stud.
Aries is OFA Tested. We have OFA testing planned for the others when they are at the appropriate age, please inquire further if you would like information on our OFA Testing.
The C3 marker primarily impacts males that are in-tact and is associated with urinary tract stones. This clearance is added protection when planning to keep a male for breeding or when a neuter is not planned.
Pricing & Guarantee
The Stud fee ranges from $1000-$2000, depending on the stud you’ve chosen. This would include everything required for one insemination (shipping fees, semen extender, collection fees, AKC/CKC form signatures).

Yes, in the event of fewer than two pups, we offer a repeat breeding at the cost of shipping or an insemination fee.
Breeding costs depend on many factors with several financial risks to consider. If you follow the correct procedure and use progesterone testing ($250 – $1000), Confirm pregnancy with Ultrasound ($200), Schedule a C-section ($2500), and require care/vaccinations for a litter of 4 pups. You can expect to pay upwards of $4000 per litter.
Deposits are non-refundable and used to secure your commitment to working with us. The $250 fee covers the costs associated from our mentoring and time spent assisting with your breeding. We do not provide refunds on deposits.
Is The Stud Fee Refundable If My Female Doesn’t Get Pregnant?
If the semen were to be received and analyzed by a vet and deemed to be non-viable, or a shipment is lost or destroyed, this is the only instance where we would offer a full refund. In most cases, the female is incorrectly timed when a pregnancy fails.
We provide a stripe link that will accept most major credit cards. In Canada, we also accept E-Transfer.
